Joyce Marie Penter of Trumann departed this life Thursday, September 10, 2026 at The Springs in Jonesboro at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 5 days. She was born April 5, 1941 in McCormick, AR to the late Bill and Ruth May Lowery and was a lifetime resident of Trumann. She was an administrator at the Senior Citizen Center for over 10 years and a member of NEA Baptist Church. Marie loved gardening flowers, playing the piano and her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Zachary “Z C” Penter; Jesse and Mary Upton Penter; sister, Delois Case and her parents. She is survived by two sons, Coty Penter of Trumann and Mark Penter of Batesville; two daughters, Cindy (Phillip) Hendrix and Tammie (Damon) Slinkard both of Trumann; one sister, Helen “Cricket” Ballard of Trumann; one brother, Jerry Lowery of Trumann; 3 grandchildren, Autumn (Dustin) Mars, Nelson Slinkard and Sky Shannon; 2 great-grandchildren, Sicily Mars and Stella Mars and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends, Monday, September 14th from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. with Alan McClung officiating.
