Obituary
Sandra Kaye Whitmire of Trumann departed this life Thursday, July 16, 2026 at Ridgecrest Health and Rehab in Jonesboro, AR at the age of 79 years, 9 months, and 15 days. She was born October 1, 1946 in Trumann, AR to the late Roy Cragg and Lena Prince Cragg Heath. She lived most of her life in Trumann and liked music, crocheting, reading, and going to the movies. She was a part of and faithful in keeping current the Trumann Facebook obituary page. She was of the Southern Baptist faith. She began her working life with Salant/Salant then was employed by Southwestern Bell, Dupont and Arkansas State University Library. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Sonny” Whitmire, her parents, step-dad, Willie “Boo” Heath, and a twin sister Sonja Faye Cragg.
She is survived by two daughters, Laura (Todd) Spires of Washington, IL, Amy (Alan Cheshier) Whitmire of Jonesboro; two sons, Nathan (Allison) Whitmire of Jonesboro, Seth (Amanda) Whitmire of Trumann; her brother, Stan (Sharon) Cragg of Conway; step-brother, Steve (Marilyn) Heath of Jonesboro; 6 grandchildren, Henry Spires, Rachel Spires, Samuel (Nikki) Whitmire, Mary-Emma Whitmire, Larkin Whitmire and William Whitmire.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 20th from 5:00 P.M.—6:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. A Celebration of Life will follow at 6:00 P.M. with Rev. Larry Loggins officiating. Burial will be private.

"Sandy was the dearest friend. When my daughter Rhiannon was hit by a car and broke her leg, Sandy sent her so many cards. Rhi said she made her feel so special. I loved Sandy so and will miss my precious friend.
