Melvin K. Presley
December 7, 1933 - October 7, 2009

Mr. Melvin Presley 75, of Shorewood, IL passed away at his home Wednesday, October 7, 2009 after a short illness. Hospice was in attendance at the time of his passing. He was born,Thursday, December 7, 1933 in Bay, AR., and had lived in IL for the past 49 years. He farmed in his younger years and then moved to IL, was a supervisor at Mayfair Rubber Molding for many years and he retired from the Downers Grove South High School maintenance department. During his retirement years he enjoyed the good life being with his wife and family. Mr. Presley was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Mae Kimberland Presley and brother, Herman Presley. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Ballard Presley of the home; two daughters, Karen Stehlik of Crest Hill, IL., and Teresa Baunach and husband John of Hinckley, IL.; one son, Ray Presley of Crest Hill, IL.; seven grandchildren, Brad and Ashley Stehlik, John Paul, Sarah, Amanda, Alyssa Baunach and Stephanie Presley.; one great granddaughter, Kaley Stehlik.; one sister, Connie Morrison of Florida and one brother, Jimmy Curtis Presley of Colorado. Funeral service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, with Rev. Harlis Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Active pallbearers will be Brad Stehlik, John Paul Baunach, John Baunach, Carlton Ballard, Lee Ballard and Gary Blasingame. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Farmer, Beau Ballard, Ricky Banks, Gary Banks, Doyle Banks, Bobby Banks, Jerry Banks and Mike Sullivan. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. An online register can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net.

    I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My mother, Alphia Presley Brooks and Melvin were cousins. She is 86 and is in bad health and unable to get out but she and Uncle Curtis were always close and with his family and really would like to be there. Plus my husband's mother lives next door to your mother. May God bless you as you go through these times.
