Johnny Elvis Mangrum
June 22, 1944 - November 6, 2010

Mr. Johnny Elvis Mangrum was born on Thursday, June 22, 1944, son of the late John Elvis Mangrum and Cora Lee Ray Mangrum. He died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 66 years 4 month and 15 days. He was born in Jonesboro, Ark., and had lived most of his lifetime in the Trumann and Bay area. He worked for Trumann Upholstery Co., for 35 years, was a veteran of the Army National Guard 875th Combat Engineers and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jude Ryan Morgan; one sister, Betty Yuel; one brother, Jimmy Mangrum and his parents. Survivors include two daughters, Angela D. Burgess of Bay and Christy D. Morgan of Jonesboro, three sons, Johnny Dewayne Mangrum of Salem, David Dwight Mangrum of Jonesboro and Joey D. Mangrum of Trumann; one sister, Jean Johnson of Portland, OR; seven brothers, Larry Mangrum of Trumann, Lonnie Mangrum, Danny Mangrum, Charles Mangrum and Ed Mangrum all of Jonesboro, Roland Mangrum of Alma and Richard Mangrum of Buckeye, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Willard officiating. Burial will follow in the Nettleton Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. An online register book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net.

    I sit here remembering those childhood days at uncle Johnny's. I also will never forget when my dad and I would go visit at the upholstery shop. Still to this day I would say "there's uncle Johnny's place" everytime I'd drive by the shop. My prayers are with you all, Dwight, Dewayne, Joey, Angie, Christy, my daddy and all my uncles.     I am so sorry for your loss. It is very hard loosing a parent. I will always remember JOhnny,& Jimmy they were always around us growing up.The last time i saw Johnny he did not reconize me, but the kiss on the forehead starled him.
