William David Gossett

Mr. William David Gossett, of Trumann died Friday, October 26, 2012 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Ark. at the age of 66 years 11 months and 20 days. He was born Tuesday, November 6, 1945 in Jonesboro, Ark. to the late Ray W. Gossett Sr. and Gladys Stutts Gossett. He lived most of his lifetime in Trumann. Mr. Gossett was a retired car salesman, served as mayor for the City of Trumann from 1991-1994, veteran of the U.S. Army serving three tours of duty in Vietnam and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray W. Sr. and Gladys Stutts Gossett. Survivors include his wife, Linda Susan

    I am deeply saddened to lose David. We were very good friends, and I have many fond memories of our times together. I'm sure my THS classmates of 1964 (as do countless others) feel as I do....David will be missed but never forgotten.

    My condolences to the Gossett Family. Dave was my platoon SGT with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam. He was a great soldier and NCO, and led by example. I will miss your emails and jokes. You made sure everybody came home, thank you and God Bless Trooper !

    David and I were classmates all through school. We have corresponded by e-mail for a while now, telling lies about how great the old days were and talking politics. I always thought the day would come when we could meet again at one of the reunions. Now, I'm sure we'll meet at that last reunion in Heaven. Rest in peace, my friend.

    We lost a good guy today and I will miss him. David and I shared alot of memories the last time I saw him. We were in basic training at the same time at Fort Polk, La. although he was a week ahead of me. we also spent time in Vietnam at the sametime, although in different places. David always liked talking about his military days. R.I.P. my friend.
