Colette "Candy Marie Whitman
January 25, 1960 - November 28, 2014

Mrs. Colette Marie “Candy” Whitman of Trumann died Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 at the family residence at the age of 54 years, 10 months and 3 days. She was born Monday, January 25, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland and had lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. She was a Food Service Clerk for the Trumann School District. Mrs. Whitman was preceded in death by one brother, William E. Bird, Jr. and was the daughter of the late William Edward Sr. and Betty Marie Pendergast Bird. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Vance Keith Whitman, Sr. of the home; one daughter, Christy Whitman (Dayne) Davis of Trumann; two sons, Vance Keith (Edie) Whitman, Jr. of Harrisburg, Ark. and Robert Edward (Cheri) Whitman of Litchfield, Ill.; two sisters, Tammy Wijnaendts of Las Vegas, Nevada and Betsy Pruno of Calif.; two brothers, David Bird of Pierce City, Mo., and Vince Bird of Calif.; four grandchildren. Memorial service will be Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Jimmy Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 p.m.to 4:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. Online guest book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net

    I knew Candy and her family long before she met and married Keith. Our parents were best friends. A lot of memories were made sitting around mom's kitchen table. So really Candy was like family before she became family--was dearly loved, and will be truly missed.
