When I met Barbara and Buren at MD Anderson in Houston I honestly thought they were both angels in disguise. I was there taking care of my daddy, who was fighting Cancer, and my mom with dementia. I was struggling to get them both from place to place that night, but Buren and Barbara were right there in the right place at exactly the right time and both of them rescued me and helped me with my precious parents. It couldn’t have been more than 20 minutes together before we had to leave to go to the next building for tests, but they left a forever impression on me and a permanent place in my heart. I am so thankful for that night and for the following rare but precious times I had with Barbara after that night when she and a Buren would come to Houston. What an incredible, strong, compassionate, and funny lady she was. She loved the Lord and spoke often about her faith. Her smile lit up every room and her sweet spirit drew people to her. I will never forget the way she spoke of her church family, her best friend, Lourindia, her family and her beloved Buren. I will never forget her and will love her until I get to see her again. Praying for Buren, Lourindia, her family and her friends - she loved every one of you. Thank you, Buren, for being her hero, her angel, and for taking such good care of her. Lisa Marie Smith

I will miss my special lifelong friend. She made me laugh a lot, and I will miss her childhood stories of Lunsford, Arkansas. I always looked forward to going to visit, just so I could hear the stories and laugh. Barb loved the Lord, and was not afraid of going to be with him some day. I sure will miss my Sweetie-Pie. She was so loving, and always would always put everyone else before herself. Barb fought a hard battle with cancer, and never would give up. She's of the strongest women I've ever known, besides her best friend Lourindia (my sister). Condolences to Buren and Charlotte's family. God Bless you all!!
