James Carl Gage, a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, died Monday afternoon, Nov. 13, at St. Elizabeth’s Place in Jonesboro. He was 86 years old.  Born to Benjamin Claud and Zepha Cecilia Gage on Aug. 12, 1937 in Pontiac, Michigan, Gage grew up in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  Gage served in the Army in the late 1950s and was stationed in Texas. He then married Wilma Kirksey, and the two had three children.  Gage spent his career as a farm implement mechanic, working for J. I. Case and International Harvester. In his free time, he loved to fish and garden. If he wasn’t in the boat with his son or brothers catching crappie, he had his gloves on and his hands in the soil.  Gage was a member of several churches in the Jonesboro area throughout his life, but he was perhaps best known as a member of Temple Baptist. He was a man of faith until the day he died.Later in life, Gage faced several health issues, ultimately landing him in a nursing home, but he spent his final years surrounded by family, even welcoming two great grandchildren into the world. He was loved up until his final moments, and will be missed for generations to come.   Preceded in death by his parents; daughter Jan Carol Gage; brothers Wayne Gage, Bob Gage, and Buddy Gage; and sister Marsue Gage; he is survived by his son Ricky Gage; daughters Elizabeth Sneed (husband Dennis) and Marsue Caines; grandchildren Sarah Dulaney (husband Justin), Chase Gage (wife Shelly), Jahna Caines, Cassidy Gage, Bekah Easley (husband Jacob), and Victoria Adell; and great-grandchildren Ryzen Dulaney, and Enid Easley.           Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 16 at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann at 9 a.m.  A graveside service will start at 11 a.m. at Bishop Cemetery, officiated by longtime friend, Pastor Jerry Jolly.  An online register book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net.
