Gilbert Barnett
December 8, 1944 - October 15, 2021

Gilbert “Gib” Barnett of Trumann departed this life on Friday, October 15, 2021 at NEA Baptist Hospital at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 7 days.   He was born Friday, December 8, 1944 in Batesville to the late James Russell and Velma Hutchison Barnett,  and lived over 50 years of his lifetime in Trumann. Gilbert was retired from the city of Trumann Street Department and was of the Baptist faith.  He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Libby Grace and one sister, Evelyn Jones.    He is survived by his wife of 50 years Shirley Creecy Barnett of the home, one son, Brent Barnett of the home; two daughters, Amy (Bill) Hall of Jonesboro and Brittany (Justin) Cunningham of Jonesboro; two brothers, Lee Barnett and Gerald Barnett both of Jonesboro; three sisters, Opal Jean Tice  and Genora Tice both of Trumann, Maxine Bowers of Paragould; eight grandchildren, Courtney (Brandon) Goodwin, Dillion (Ashley) Byram, Cody (Allison) Byram and Zach (Kenzye) Byram, Preston Hall, Jacob Hall, Daymon Hall and Ethan Hall; eleven great grandchildren.   The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann.  Celebration of Life will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 pm at Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Guy McMahan officiating.   Burial will follow at  Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro.     Lasting memorials are asked to give to the American Parkinson Research Foundation.      In compliance with COVID-19 restrictions, face masks or other facial covering is optional and social distancing will be required.       An online guest book can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net
