  1. Fay Lester, Germantown says

Uncle Johnny was such a sweet loving man. He will be greatly missed. He was always so soft spoken. I never remember him ever raising his voice. I sorry we didn't spend more time together. It's sad how life gets in the way and you don't get to spend time with the ones you love. Watch over your loved ones Uncle Johnny. I love you. Aunt Dorothy I love you too.

Mr Gunter I am so thankful to have known you. You taught me to value hard work and I will always remember the example you set for all who knew you. Heaven has gained a good man.

  4. Donna Lemmons Sherard, Olive Branch, MS says

Dear Johnny, Dorothy, & Beth: It’s been a honor knowing Johnny as well as his family, Dorothy and Beth, all these years. I don’t have a lot of teenage memories that don’t contain y’all and for that I’m forever grateful. You and Dorothy have made a wonderful life together and both of you have raised an awesome daughter that I get to call my friend. Thank you both for always welcoming me into your home and allowing all of us girls to run in and out the doors. As we were growing up, we never thought that some days each of us would have to say good bye to our parents, but as we’ve aged so did y’all. At times like this it hard to say good bye but you live on through Dorothy and Beth. You’ve planted the seeds that at the time they both might have thought were silly but you were preparing them for this day so they could carry on without your presence. As the days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months, I hope they find comfort with all the wonderful memories you’ve share and the life you and Dorothy built. Rest in peace Johnny and fly high with the angels and I’ll see you again someday. Love you all so much. Donna

  5. Doreen Oyadomari, Birmingham, AL says

Dorthy, I am so sorry for the loss of the love of your life, and Beth, for the loss of the best Dad in the world. Johnny was such a kind, thoughtful, loving, positive, and patient soul to all he met. I will always remember that uplifting, encouraging and beautiful letter he wrote to Earl after both of their cancer diagnoses.

Dorthy and Beth. I am so sorry to hear about Johnny this morning. My Mom just called me to let me know. We talked about your time with us in CA and the fun we all had together when you lived here and how much we missed you when you moved away. I'm so thankful that I had a chance to visit with both of you at the Alumni a few years back. How blessed you are to have had 57 years together. John was a good guy. Prayers for you and Beth to get you through the days ahead. Love to both of you. Brenda Chaffin
