Charlie Gray Shores
March 26, 1919 - March 24, 2007

Mr. Charlie Gray Shores was born on Wednesday, March 26, 1919, son of the late Isaac and Minnie Plowman Shores. Mr. Shores died Saturday, March 24, 2007 at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark. at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 26 days. He was born in Mocksville, NC, and after his service in the military, he lived in St. Francis, Ark., for 6 years before moving to Trumann 57 years ago. He was a retired barber, veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WW II, member of the Eastern Star Lodge #207, the American Legion Post 0389, and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Shores was preceded in death by two brothers, Ruben Shores and Richard Shores and his parents. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Velma Byrd Shores of the home; a son, Charles Gary and wife Betty Shores of Trumann; two grandchildren, Keiley Blair of Jonesboro and Amber and husband Matt Moon of Trumann and may beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 27th at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark. Pallbearers will be Richard Shores, Jr., Tommy Shores, Patrick Book, Andee Book, Matt Moon and Brett Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Newt Beaird, Guy Beaird, Jim Richardson, Darrel Reese, Perry Sims, Gary Martin, A.L. Carman, Lloyd Harris, Eldon Gartman, Maurice McMillin, Harold Allen and members of the St. Francis Masonic Lodge. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home.
