Harold Eugene Smith

Mr. Harold Eugene Smith was born on Wednesday, August 18, 1926, son of the late Haven and Ethel Anna Mae Wright Smith. Mr. Smith died Friday, October 17, 2008 at the family residence in Trumann, Ark., at the age of 82 years 1 month 29 days. He was born in Minturn, Ark., and had lived in Trumann for the past 13 years and was formerly of Marked Tree. Mr. Smith was a retired factory worker and a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Billy Smith, one great-granddaughter, Gabriella Veal, two sisters, Opal Adams and Margie Kirby, one brother, Leland Smith and his parents. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ruth Benz Smith of the home; three daughters, Janet Bailey of Memphis, Joanna Northcott of Wynne and Brenda Russell of Jonesboro; three sons, Bill Smith of Memphis, David Smith of Olive Branch Miss., and Joe Smith of Destin Florida; three sisters, Ruth Smith of Chattanooga, Tenn., Hazel Smith of Payneway and Edith Allison of Memphis; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Maple Grove Baptist Church in Trumann, Ark., with Dr. Jim Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland, Ark., under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Stevens, Harold Pankey, Marvin Massey, Danny Pippinger, Dale Whitlatch, and Bob White. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Men
