June Meridith Whitmire
May 12, 1932 - April 16, 2009

Mrs. June Meridith Whitmire was born on Thursday, May 12, 1932, daughter of the late Thomas W. and Goldie M. Keel Meridith. Mrs. Whitmire died Thursday, April 16, 2009 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 4 days. She was born in Walnut Ridge, Ark., and was a graduate of Trumann High School. She spent approximately 10 years in California before returning to Trumann 35 years ago. She was a retired factory worker who loved and cared for her church family at Freer Baptist Church in Trumann and was devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed voluunteering and helping others. Mrs. Whitmire was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Meridith and Tommy Meridith, two sisters, Shirley Meridith and Pauline Meridith Coker and her parents. Suvivors include one daughter, Letty Carpenter Thompson of Jonesboro, one brother, Jerry Meridith of Flintville, TN and one sister, Diana Sutterfield of Jonesboro. Joint memorial service with her brother, Tommy Joe Meridith will be Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Watts officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. An online register can be signed at www.thompsonfuneralhome.net.

    My sincerre sympathy to all the family. June was my best friend when we were in 9th grade at Trumann high school. She is the only person I remember from Trumann High. Even though I lost touch, I never forgot her. I still have a picture from those days and have often spoken of her.It saddens me to learn of her passing.     There are no words good enough for how much she meant to everyone. She was the most loving, caring wonderful lady. To me, she was not just an Aunt, she treated me like I was her kid too.
